You base your faith off of the writings of ancient Prophets, yet reject a modern-day Prophet who lived a similar life and shared the same message as his predecessors. I invite you to rethink your prejudices against Joseph Smith and Mormonism.

The Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

1) We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2) We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.

3) We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4) We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5) We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6) We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7) We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8) We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9) We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10) We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11) We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12) We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13) We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Joseph Smith

After the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1844, a leading New York newspaper reported, “Joseph Smith, the Mormon Prophet is dead. Thus ends Mormonism.” Joseph Smith was dead. However, Mormonism, the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, was just beginning. http://www.mormon.org

From the Holy Bible, we learn that in some cases the Lords servants were rebuked and punished for not practicing plural marriage according to Gods command. However, the practice of plural marriage, according to the Holy Bible, is appropriate when approved by God and dictated to his authorized disciples.

After revealing the Ten Commandments to Moses, the Lord taught about plural marriage saying that if a man were to have another wife, her food, clothing and marital rights were not to be diminished. (Exodus 21:10)

The Lord revealed the importance of the equity of wives and children under plural marriages. (Deuteronomy 21:15-17)

Abraham had multiple wives. (Genesis 16: 1-11, 25:1)

Jacob had multiple wives. (Genesis 29:28; 30: 4,9,26)

And Jesus Christ himself taught that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will sit in the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matt 8:11; Luke 13:28)

David had multiple wives (2 Samuel 2:2, 5:13) and did not sin until devising a way to take Uriahs wife Bathsheba. (2 Samuel 12: 7-13)

Solomon practiced plural marriage and was only condemned when he went against the commandment of God and married outside Israel. (1 Kings 11:1-6)

Still others had more than one wife.

Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives. (2 Chronicles 13:21)

Ehoiada took for him two wives. (2 Chronicles 24:3)

Plural marriage was also prophesied by Isaiah as happening in the future. (Isaiah 4:1)

If you’re going to take someone’s else word for it, it’d probably be a good idea for that ‘someone else’ to be God. Read the Book of Mormon for yourself online. Learn more about prayer, the Holy Spirit and how you can know if the Book of Mormon is true here.

You can discover for yourself that what youve been learning is true by:

* Sincerely praying to your Heavenly Father and asking Him if what you are learning is true.

* Continuing to study and give thoughtful consideration to what you are learning.

* Listening with your heart for the Holy Ghost to whisper the truth to you.

* Following Gods commandments so you can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost.

Do Mormons worship a “different” Jesus?

I cannot think of anything more important in life than striving to understand our relationship with God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. The knowledge that we can overcome sin and death through the infinite atonement and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is priceless.

God’s kingdom is one of order. He has established, through his Son Jesus Christ and the prophets and apostles, the commandment of baptism by immersion. All Christians must come to terms with the clear evidence contained in the scriptures that being baptized is not just important – it is essential – to be saved.

I admire and respect those who approach me in sincerity and kindness, regardless of whether or not they agree with the doctrines and practices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

However, I have absolutely no respect for individuals who use demeaning language, blatant lies and hostile tactics in an attempt to weaken my faith.

Now you can see those types of people for who they really are – Christian in name only.

The sooner that so-called ”Christians” stop attacking members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the sooner they will realize how much true Christian doctrine they are neglecting which has come from Jesus Christ himself.

Those who criticize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for being “rich” calling it “Mormon, Inc.” or “LDS, Inc.” put themselves in the awkward position of attacking one of the seemingly only organizations on Earth that does not have a problem with its financials.
